Chimp trekking and more!

Chimp trekking indeed, with our lovely guide, Yelima. She’s a first class trekker, and she can hike. I mean really hike! She’s pushing us to our limits, cutting straight through the forest while the sweat pours off my brow.

But before we spot the elusive chimp, we’ve been doing some other amazing things… We’ve whitewater rafted Category 5 rapids on the White Nile river. Scary!!

We’ve made a foray into a local market.

We’ve picked up some chicken on a stick from the street vendors. Yummy!

                    (Charlieloves them, too!

And we’ve reached the equator! Time for pics!!

After pitching our tents and saying hi to the local baboon families and birds, it’s time to find some chimps!

Our trail starts just behind our campsite in the Kalinzu Forest.

We find some wild mushrooms, but it’s the chimps we want to see.

The forest is beautiful and amazing.

And finally, after several hours of rough hiking, we find a chimp up in the tree.

It seems the rest of his friends are being shy today. But we’re thrilled to have found him.

Yay!!
